Market Watch: Irene Schloss loses over $79,000 on sale of Northbrook home

The home: 622 Dunsten Circle, Northbrook

The 1,874-square-foot home has 4 bedrooms, 3.1 baths, a 2-car garage, high-end appliances, built-in buffet with granite wet bar, wine cooler, oversized master suite with a large walk-in closet, fully finished basement, breakfast room, fireplace, private patio and a fenced-in backyard.

The purchase: In April 2009, Schloss paid $410,000 for the home, or roughly $488,758 in today's dollars, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

The sale: According to Zillow, Schloss sold the home for $409,000 on March 28, or approximately $79,758 less than the original purchase price, in today's dollars.

Schloss originally listed the home for $459,000 in September 2018, but lowered the price in October 2018 to $445,000.  She dropped the price again in February to $419,999.

The property taxes: Based on data compiled from Blockshopper.com and Zillow, Schloss paid $57,756 in property taxes between 2009 and 2017, or about 14.12 percent of the sale price.
