Market Watch: Susan Cozzi loses over $170,000 on sale of Wheaton home

The home: 933 Aurora Way, Wheaton

The 2,558-square-foot home has 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, Corian countertops, hardwoods, a sunroom with mature wooded tree views, a large deck, a fenced backyard with storage shed and a large utility room.

The purchase: In August 2007, Cozzi paid $445,000 for the home, or $550,839 in today's dollars, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

The sale: According to Zillow, Cozzi sold the home for $380,000 on Feb. 19, or $170,839 less than the original purchase price, in today's dollars.

Cozzi originally listed the home in March 2016 for $449,000. She lowered the price in April 2016 to $425,000 and again in June 2016 to $395,000.  She upped the price in June 2017 to $424,900 and re-listed it for the same price in June 2018.  She began dropping the price again in July and September 2018 to $424,900 and $399,900, respectively.

The property taxes: Based on data compiled from Blockshopper.com and Zillow, Cozzi paid $94,470 in property taxes between 2007 and 2017, or 24.86 percent of the sale price.
