Market Watch: Jeffrey Weller loses over $380,000 on sale of Hinsdale home

The 3,337-square-foot home has 5 bedrooms, 5 baths, 2-large decks, floor-to-ceiling windows, a master suite with walk-in closets and a dressing room.  The open kitchen has double wall ovens, a wine fridge, breakfast bar, dry pantry and a butler's pantry.  An year-round sunroom and gorgeous professional landscaping add to the beauty of this home.

The purchase: In July 2004, Weller paid $820,000 for the home, or roughly $1.08 million in today's dollars, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

The sale: According to Zillow, Weller sold the home for $709,500 on Jan. 14, or $380,277 less than the original purchase price, in today's dollars.

Weller originally listed the home in June 2018 for $849,000 and dropped the price in July to $799,000.  In November, the home was listed at $749,000.

The property taxes: Based on data compiled from Blockshopper.com and Zillow, Weller paid $188,730 in property taxes between 2005 and 2017, or an estimated 26.6 percent of the sale price.
