Market Watch: Apryl Martin loses over $37,000 on sale of Plainfield home

The home: 13306 Rosewood Lane, Plainfield

The 4,313-square-foot home has 5 bedrooms, 5 baths, a backyard completely fenced in on 0.75 acre, a hot tub, in-law arrangement, sitting area inside the master suite, tray ceiling in master suite, huge walk-in closets, detailed millwork and custom cabinetry.

The purchase: In August 2016, Martin paid $443,000 for the home, or roughly $462,980 in today's dollars, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

The sale: According to Zillow, Martin sold the home for $425,000 on March 11, or approximately $37,980 less than the original purchase price, in today's dollars.

Martin originally listed the home for $449,900 in June 2018.  She lowered the price twice in July to $479,900 and $475,000.  She dropped the price again in August to $459,900 and again in October to $449,000.  The home was available for rent at $3,200 per month at the end of October 2018.  The house was last listed for sale for $439,900 at the end of December.

The property taxes: Based on data compiled from Blockshopper.com and Zillow, Martin paid $17,025 in property taxes in 2017, or about 4 percent of the sale price.
