The purchase: In September 2001, the Evanses paid $395,000 for the home, or approximately $557,634 in today's dollars, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

The sale: According to Zillow, the Evanses sold the home for $364,900 on March 4, or an estimated $192,734 less than the original purchase price, in today's dollars.

The Evanses listed the home in January for $364,900.

The property taxes: Based on data compiled from Blockshopper.com and Zillow, the Evanses paid $39,940 in property taxes between 2012 and 2016, or 11 percent of the sale price.
