Market Watch: Francine Williams loses over $163,000 on sale of Bloomington home

The home:  206 Wimbledon Place, Bloomington

The 2,515-square-foot home has 3 bedrooms, 4 baths, lots of natural light, beautiful hardwoods and is on a corner lot in the Villas of Thornfield.

The purchase: In January 2005, Williams paid $390,000 for the home, or roughly $514,775 in today's dollars, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

The sale: According to Zillow, Williams sold the home for $351,000 on Feb. 22, or approximately $163,775 less than the original purchase price, in today's dollars.

Williams originally listed the home in mid-March 2016 at $399,900. By the end of March, she dropped the price to $385,000.  In September 2018, she lowered the price again to $379.000.  The price decreased twice in October 2018 to $374,900 and $369,900.  The home was last listed in December 2018 at $359,000.

The property taxes: Based on data compiled from Blockshopper.com and Zillow, Williams paid $41,173 in property taxes between 2013 and 2017, or an estimated 12 percent of the sale price.
