The purchase: In May 2006, Stewart Hawkins paid $45,000 for the home, or roughly $55,829 in today's dollars, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The sale: According to Zillow, Stewart Hawkins sold the home for $32,500 on Feb. 4, or approximately $23,329 less than the original purchase price, in today's dollars.
Stewart Hawkins originally listed the home for $39,900 in October 2018 and dropped the price in December to $34,900.
The property taxes: Based on data compiled from Blockshopper.com and Zillow, Stewart Hawkins paid $8,003 in property taxes between 2012 and 2017, or about 25 percent of the sale price.
