Market Watch: Hruskas lose over $228,000 on sale of Flossmoor home

The purchase: In July 2002, the Hruskas paid $490,000 for the home, or roughly $683,532 in today's dollars.
The sale: According to Zillow, they sold the home for $455,000 on Jan. 6, or an estimated $228,532 less than the original purchase price, in today's dollars.
The Hruskas originally listed the home for $479,900 in September 2018.
The property taxes: The Hruskas paid $257,089 in property taxes from 2002 to 2017, or approximately 57 percent of the sale price.
