Ken Idstein, (State Representative, 62nd District)

Public Service

I have served on the Grayslake Village Planning and Zoning Commission for a total of 12 years and am proud of the development of our downtown area. I also have been a member of the Grayslake Chamber of Commerce since 1985. Over my 17 year tenure with the Grayslake Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors I had the honor of serving two terms as President.

Community Service

I was born and raised in Grayslake and I relish every opportunity to give back to the community that has given me so much. I have been a volunteer for PADS Homeless Shelter for more than 20 years. Helping those most in need in our district has taught me many valuable life lessons and has grown my passion for giving.

I have also served our community as a coach for youth baseball, park district basketball and Grayslake Colts football. I was a member of the Grayslake Youth Baseball Association Board of Directors for 5 years and also served as President of the Grayslake Travel Baseball program for two years.

Professional Life

I am a small business owner. As a mortgage professional, I have dedicated my life to helping families achieve the dream of home ownership in the incredible communities of Lake County. I have seen firsthand, how the state’s financial problems and corruption have negatively affected our taxpayers, our homeowners, our local businesses, and even our public servants like my wife Ania. I hear from friends and neighbors all the time that if things don’t change, they are leaving Illinois. They love Lake County, but they just can’t afford to stay. The politicians have made it impossible.

Family

I was one of seven children born and raised in Grayslake. I have lived in this district my entire life. I graduated from Grayslake Central High School and have 5 children and 3 grandchildren. I currently live just north of Rte. 120 and west of Rte.83 with my wife Ania, who is a public school teacher.
