Marilyn Smolenski, (State Representative, 55th District)
Marilyn Smolenski is a business owner, dedicated wife and mother, and a political outsider. Having never run for office before, she will be an independent voice in Springfield.
With property taxes skyrocketing and a brand new income tax hike hurting families, Marilyn decided to run because she understands how the decisions of career politicians impact middle class families. As your next state representative, Marilyn will fight for taxpayers and their families.
Marilyn’s working-class values and work ethic come from her first job at the drywall construction business her father ran for over 30 years. At the time, her mother was a teacher’s aide for children with special needs. That same work ethic pushed Marilyn to start her own business six years ago.
Marilyn lives in Park Ridge with her husband, Mark, and two children. She attends St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Parish, volunteers for the USO and Special Olympics, and was part of Boy Scouts of America for many years.
