Dwight Kay, (State Representative, 112th District)

I had the privilege of serving the 112th district from 2011-2017. I am running again because Springfield continues to demonstrate its contempt for the people of Illinois by increasing taxes and refusing to pass necessary reforms.

Frankly, Springfield is a disaster and we need a voice to fight the incompetence and corruption in the General Assembly. Because of my past outspokenness, the failed leadership of the Springfield "swamp" has arrayed powerful interests against me in this election. But I am confident that we the people will prevail.

If we don't bring back common sense and family-friendly policies, the state will continue its steady decline. Rolling back property taxes, repealing the recently increased income tax hike and working to bring back jobs to southern Illinois are at the top of my agenda. As I have done in the past I will cut my pay by 10 percent and refuse to accept the pension lawmakers lavish on themselves.

As you may know, I am a businessman who has worked for more than 40 years at a local transport company, where I started in the mailroom and worked my way up to a leadership position. A strong private sector is the key to creating jobs. Raising taxes, refusing to pass pension reform and letting Chicago politicians run the state into the ground only chase jobs away. Small businesses and employers are overtaxed and overregulated. I will fight to create an environment for businesses to grow and entrepreneurs to succeed.

As a father and grandfather, I believe serving the people of southern Illinois is a way to give back all the blessings our community has bestowed on me, my wife Nancy and my family.
